This one-year honors course fulfills the U.S. Government requirement. The primary goal of the program is to promote civic responsibility and competence in students.  This is accomplished by emphasizing student involvement and encouraging students to relate important concepts and principles to historical and contemporary situations as well as to their own experiences.

The content of the texts and teaching methods found in the instructional program help students develop critical thinking and public-speaking skills. Because students work in teams, they also develop important skills and attitudes that are necessary for working cooperatively with others.
